Are you a redneck, well you SHOULD BE ONE!!

A redneck today is a slang term for a person from the southern states. Not real appealing! A redneck from the late 1800s was a person who worked in the coal mines of the southern states. They worked in unsafe mines deep underground for little money and got no respect. Their family got very little money if they were killed in the mine.

They led a very tough and poor existence. The mine owners made all the money and the workers suffered. Until they got tired of being second class workers and revolted. They refused to enter the mines until they got their say.

It was one of the first strikes in the mines. The people stuck together and got improvements in the work place and finally a decent wage and benefits. They showed backbone and stuck up for their rights. The people were fed up with their life, and made the choice to stick up for their rights and changed their lives in a big way.

The workers on strike to show they were banded together wore RED HANDKERCHIEFS around their necks. Hence the term RED NECK to show they were sticking together! I hope you are a red neck, in that you are fed up with your low paying no security JOB. You will show the world you are not going to take it any more. You want more out of your life, for you and your family deserve more.
