German Helmets; not what you think!

Bikers are showoffs! We like to be seen, that is why we customize our bikes. Other vehicle owners do it too. We love having people stare at and admire our rides. For some, me included, we must build a ride that stands out!

From the first recorded history of battles, fighting to take or defend what you have is ingrained in our DNA. We put alarms on our vehicles, homes, and our bodies. Hands OFF our bodies and our valuables. I am 70, handicapped, need a cane to balance, but harm my wife, kids or grandkids, watch, out; that cane will be bashing in your forehead. I will go down, but so will some of the jerks attacking us.

When a conquering tribe gained victory, they picked over the dead for anything useful for the next battle. Clothes, boots, weapons, food and water. Someone started grabbing the losers decorations, medals, insignias, and of course helmets, to proudly wear, signifying their superiority. That was used up to the modern day.

During World War II, Allied fighters followed the tradition. German clothes, medals, and helmets were stripped from the dead, and became currency for smokes, K-rations or cash. Allied bombers were the powerful deterrent to soften the German people, to stop the fighting. The HELL'S ANGELS was a squadron of fighter pilots that kept the bombers from harm by the German fighters. Their job was to draw the German forces away from the bombers, and send them to their death. Fighter pilots were in the battle of their lives. Many did not return! I don't know how many bombers they saved, or how many HELL'S ANGELS died, but I'm sure it affected a lot of them.

When the HELL'S ANGELS returned home, they were changed!! Motorcycles were sent to battle as quick transport, carrying important papers to leaders on the front lines. And fast transport for fighting, and transporting whatever was needed on the front. They were stripped, chopped to make them faster and better at navigating the rough terrain.

After coming home there was no PTSD, you were taught to suck it up. The fighter pilots that stuck together in combat were now at home, sticking together. Damaged from so much death and despair,
they chopped bikes, stripped of anything not needed for speed. They kept their famous name, the HELL'S Angels, that stood for all the brothers that did not make it home. When a fighter plane is shot down, not much of the body remains. Hence; Crash and Burn, even used today. Used in the movie TOP GUN!

Wearing a German type helmet, now fiberglass motorcycle helmet, or German crosses or other, is not glorifying the Germans in World War II, it is to glorify the Brave Allied Heroes that never came home! Yes the Hell's Angels now are 1 percenters. They are 1 percent of the world's people. I respect them, there was one Hell's Angel I knew. He had business cards printed up. When someone along the road was broke down, or old people not able to change a flat tire, he would stop his bike and help them. He like us would not accept any money, but handed them his card. It said "You have been helped by a Hell's Angel".
